16:00  to  17:30

Mini-Symposium

Genomics research has driven many advances in healthcare. To unlock the full potential of genomics and improve health for all, secure and efficient data sharing for researchers across these sectors is essential.
At ELIXIR our mission is to build and operate a sustainable infrastructure for human genomics and translational data, supporting life science research and its translation to medicine.
This session will highlight the progress made towards this mission across European initiatives and projects as well as ELIXIR-funded projects and collaborative activities. Focus will include the deployment of the genomic data infrastructure, FAIR data accessibility, federated analysis as well as cancer specific data requirements.

Research Software Quality, Resilience, Sustainability and Recognition: enabling reproducible analytics and infrastructure
16:00  to  17:30

Mini-Symposium

Software is ubiquitous in Research. Communities have created numerous software applications that are essential to progress in their fields. The reliability, reusability and long-term sustainability of these applications is critical. There are several initiatives and projects that directly address research software  including quality, resilience, sustainability, and recognition.

The Goal of this Symposium is to take stock of activities across ELIXIR and closely aligned projects (such as STEERS and EVERSE), in order to define a clear alignment strategy, while at the same time propose a coherent structure for maintaining this alignment during implementation to minimize organizational overheads.

Activities that will be targeted include:
Identifying and capturing research software Indicators;
Compiling research software best practices
Designing a coherent strategy for reward and recognition around research software
Maintaining a dynamic knowledge base for research software (RSQkit)

Outcome of this Symposium will include a clear strategy document outlining the connections across the involved initiatives.

Connecting ELIXIR Communities and Platforms
16:00  to  17:30

Mini-Symposium

ELIXIR is large and complex. Many activities take place and are developed in one or several places by one or the same person. In other words, many of the people working for and contributing to ELIXIR are involved across different activities and areas. Connecting the dots and ongoing initiatives taking place e.g. in ELIXIR Communities and Platforms to leverage synergies and collaborate is key for success and consequently a larger impact.
This MiniSymposium will showcase a number of examples where Platforms and Communities are working in a collaborative way and present the achieved impact.
The examples shall also serve as an inspiration for other Platform-Community pairings and highlight challenges and fallbacks that should be addressed in the future.
The session includes presentations and a panel discussion, which includes the (end) user perspective, that should be considered by both Platform and Community activities and can inform the way these interact.
